AJAN JÄLKI

Wall rug - Ajan Jälki (=trail of time),

is a piece of art, which combines the traditional craftmanship with new aesthetics and art. The wall rug is made of excess textiles that are produced in our society massive amounts. The placement of the colours and forms is based on the passing of time on ground which shows as beautiful layers. The meaning of the piece is to awake thoughts of the trail we’re leaving to the world. In a space the piece works also as an acoustic element.

Ajan Jälki, that is made as a group work, was also displayed at Helsinki Design Week 2019 in the Conundrum exhibition. The exhibition was designed and executed in a larger group effort of the class.

The size of the wall rug is ~160cm x 300cm

Conundrum exhibition - Helsinki Design Week 2019

The wall rug, Ajan Jälki, was displayed at the Helsinki Design Week in 2019. The exhibition was located at the center of Helsinki, at Erottaja 2. All of the art and furniture pieces displayed, as well as the exhibition materials such as tiles used on the platforms, were recycled.

A Conundrum: “A difficult question or riddle or a difficult choice or decision that must be made - the puzzle we’re all dealing with concerning the environment”
